Heitor - Tejo Red Wine Label Illustration

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

Beer52 reached out to me to inquire about my interest in designing a one-of-a-kind wine label for the Tejo region. They emphasized the importance of utilizing artists from the country, where possible. The goal was to create a modern and engaging label with a surreal aesthetic that centers around the visuals of the Tejo region. Additionally, I was challenged to devise an appropriate name for the wine.

THE SOLUTION

After some discussion, I opted to use a half-man/half-animal concept of wearing clothes from the Victorian era. The man represented the people that owned the vineyards and lived from the wine production. For the animal, I picked the roaster because it's a famous icon from Portugal.

I selected "Heitor" as the name of the wine to pay tribute to a rooster that was raised on our family's small farm. He was considered the leader of the henhouse.
